THE most powerful road-going Bentley ever created has been revealed by the legendary Crew-based prestige car maker - and it's already notched-up an extraordinary record ⦠underwater!

Not quite what it seems, however, for the record was set in an 8.9 mile long undersea tunnel in Norway where the new, fourth generation, Continental GT Speed was filmed for a TV ad and shot from a standstill to its 208 mph top speed in just 33 seconds. establishing a new unofficial speed record for a car in a tunnel.

The new model's outstanding performance comes courtesy of a new ultra performance hybrid powertrain producing 771bhp and 1,000 Nm of toque, from a four-litre V8 working in tandem with a 190 PS electric motor.

The 0-60 mph sprint takes only 3.1 seconds with the benefit of 50 miles of usable electric-only range and a total range of 534 miles.

The performance is matched by a new chassis system, with new air springs paired with new dual-valve dampers, along with Bentley Dynamic Ride, electronic limited slip diff and torque vectoring.

Under the skin, a suite of modern innovative technology delivers class-leading capability in terms of driver assistance, infotainment systems and connected car services.

Bentley's famed interior cabin design, materials, quality, and craftsmanship continue with the introduction of further wellness seat technology, new air ionisation, three-dimensional leather textures, new modern quilting, and technical finishes such as new dark chrome and the company claims a virtually limitless number of configurations.

The new exterior continues the design revolution for Bentley's future journey, with the biggest revision to the face of the Continental GT in two decades, and the first mainstream Bentley with single headlamps since the 1950s.

For the first time in the history of the Continental GT, the convertible Continental GTC is being launched at the same time as the coupe - providing ultimate flexibility for customers who appreciate both open topped and closed roof motoring.

Both coupe and convertible models will be crafted entirely by hand at Bentley's Dream Factory in Crewe with production and deliveries are due to begin in the autumn.
