THE fourth-generation of the Citroen C3 hatchback will be available both as an all-electric and petrol-powered model.

Priced from £17,790 the new C3 and e-C3 will be on the road in the next few months and the car has a redesigned nose, black wheel arch extensions, skid plates front and rear and a two-tone roof with rails.

The electric e-C3 - which has a fully charged range of up to 199 miles - will cost from £21,990 in Plus trim or £23,690 in Max specification.

The new e-C3 is the first to use the Stellantis Smart Car platform which uses a 44kWh lithium ferro phosphate battery pack that can be recharged from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in 26 minutes from a fast charger.

Using a standard home charger takes around four hours and 10 minutes to 80 per cent.

With a 113hp electric motor and automatic transmission it can accelerate from 0-62mph in around 11 seconds with a provisional top speed of 84mph.

Plus trim includes a 10-inch central touchscreen which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

All versions feature Citroen's Advanced Comfort front seats and suspension as well as advanced safety technologies which include video-based active safety brake, active lane departure warning system, speed limit detection and recommendation, driver attention alert, hill start assist, cruise control, and a speed limiter.

Max variants offer a rear parking camera, automatic air conditioning, LED rear lights, dark-tinted windows, as well as a heated steering wheel, heated windscreen and heated front seats.

Citroen says the entry-level C3 will be powered by a PureTech 100 stop and start six-speed manual, available in Plus trim only while a self-charging hybrid will complete the range by the end of 2024.

Specifications for the PureTech and PHEV versions are still to be announced.
