JEEP is targeting the likes of Range Rover and Audi with a high performance electric SUV with 600hp on tap.

The new Wagoneer S has a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds and a range of more than 300 miles.

The large SUV is due to be on the road in Europe in 2025 after being launched in the US later in 2024.

"The launch of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new chapter in the storied history of the Jeep brand,"said Antonio Filosa, Jeep brand chief executive."Building upon nearly a century of innovation and design, this first global BEV will introduce a whole new generation of owners to an experience that is distinctly Jeep and 100 per cent electric in every way."

With Jeep's Selec-Terrain all-terrain system, the Wagoneer S is said to have a 28 minute charging time from five to 80 per cent capacity in 28 minutes from a fast charger.

Sitting on a new large platform developed by parent group Stellantis, the Wagoneer S is Jeep's first global battery-electric vehicle.

It is also the most aerodynamic Jeep to date with a sloping roofline and a characteristic Wagoneer silhouette.

The original Jeep Wagoneer of 1963 has become an automotive icon and ushered in the widespread adoption of utility vehicles.

The Wagoneer S has an upmarket interior that includes a 12.3-inch central display, haptic controls and electronic door releases.

Jeep says it has more than 170 standard safety and security features including active driving assist,intersection collision assist, drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition and surround view camera.
