WHITE is the new black, according to Audi. For the company has just announced new Black Edition A6 models - along with images of white cars!

To be fair, the Black Edition tag refers more to the special trim on these new top-of-the-range variants of the A6 saloon and Avant which includes gloss turned 20-inch V-spoke alloys in matt titanium and a black finish for the radiator grille surround, front air intakes, door mirror housings and rear diffuser, plus the roof rails in Avant models.

The Black Edition models, which Audi says have been re-introduced following their popularity in the previous A6 generation - are based on the sporting S trim level and, as well as the cosmetic changes, come with sport suspension and an upgrade from the standard LED headlights to segmented Matrix LED units capable of diverting their beams around leading or oncoming traffic.

Inside, there are front sport seats in leather and Alcantara, a perforated leather multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles and dark brushed aluminium inlays.

The Black Edition trim can be combined with all engines in the new A6 range, with prices starting from £44,635 OTR.
