KOREAN brand SsangYong is seeing red over its popular SUV the Korando.

So it has added a limited edition Red model to its Giugiaro-designed line-up.

Based on the Korando ELX 2.2, the car adds a full red leather interior, six-way power adjustable and ventilated driver's seat, a powered sunroof plus High Intensity Discharge headlights.

Fans of the brand also get the choice of either a metallic space black or metallic techno grey exterior - and six-speed automatic gearbox.

The Korando ELX features intelligent on demand four wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a smart infotainment system with seven-inch touchscreen with a TomTom navigation system, rear view camera and 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.

Beneath the bonnet is a newly developed 2.2-litre diesel engine boasting stronger performance and lower C02 emissions than the 2.0-litre unit it replaces. Maximum power is increased to 178PS - up by 19.4 per cent.

The Korando Red costs £23,495 and all models in the SsangYong range are covered by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

All the company's models are built in South Korea by SsangYong Motor, which is 73 per cent owned by the Indian engineering conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra, and imported into the UK by SsangYong Motor UK.

Established in 1954 it is Korea's oldest vehicle manufacturer and only 4x4 and SUV specialist producer. There are currently some 60 SsangYong dealers in the UK.
